Mid-Century Tall Ash Cabinet with Hand-Painted Pattern, 1960s
This modern tall cabinet was manufactured in Scandinavia during the 1960s. It is made from ash wood and veneer with irregular, strong grain. The chest has been finished in earth-colored wood with very rare perennial defects on the tree. A burl (or burr) is a tree growth in which the grain has grown in a deformed manner. It is commonly found in the form of a rounded outgrowth on a tree trunk or branch that is filled with small knots from dormant buds. Burls yield a very peculiar and highly figured wood, prized for its beauty and rarity.
The cabinet has a pair of sliding doors with a hand-painted pattern in mid-century style. It has four drawers and shelves inside.
