Official Furniture Partner for the Speakeasy Sessions

This September, LOFTME joined Shoreditch Design Week 2026 as the official Furniture Partner for the Speakeasy Sessions at Shoreditch Town Hall.

Across three days of talks and conversations, a curated selection of original and restored LOFTME furniture transformed the Speakeasy space into a relaxed setting bringing together vintage European design and contemporary design culture.

Officially Announced by Shoreditch Design Week

Shoreditch Design Week announced the collaboration on its official website, recognising LOFTME as the official Furniture Partner for the Speakeasy Sessions.

The feature introduced LOFTME's approach to sourcing and restoring authentic mid-century furniture and highlighted the selection chosen to furnish the Speakeasy space.

About Shoreditch Design Week

Shoreditch Design Week launched in 2026 as a new annual design event and the largest official district of the London Design Festival, building on the legacy of the Shoreditch Design Triangle, which had brought the area's design community together for 18 years.

Taking place across Shoreditch from 15–20 September, the programme brought together more than 60 showrooms, brands, galleries and creative spaces, alongside hundreds of events, installations, talks and activations. Rather than operating as a single conventional design fair, Shoreditch Design Week extended across the neighbourhood, connecting established design destinations with independent studios, emerging talent and the wider creative community.

At the centre of the programme were four major exhibition venues: Material Matters at Unlocked, House of ICON at Shoreditch Town Hall, Design at Work at Protein Studios and Kachette on Old Street. Together, they presented international brands, emerging designers, material innovation and ideas spanning workplace, hospitality, retail and residential design.

More Than an Exhibition

Shoreditch Design Week was conceived as more than a collection of exhibitions. Across the district, showrooms, studios and pop-up spaces hosted product launches, installations, talks, tours and networking events, creating opportunities for designers, brands, architects, interior designers and other industry professionals to meet and exchange ideas.

The first half of the week had a strong trade focus, while the programme broadened towards the weekend to engage the wider public — bringing professional design culture into the streets, studios and spaces of Shoreditch.

The Speakeasy Sessions

At Shoreditch Town Hall, the Speakeasy Sessions created a dedicated space for conversation within the wider Shoreditch Design Week programme — bringing together designers, architects, journalists, makers and other creative voices to discuss the ideas shaping design today.

Curated by design writer and commentator Roddy Clarke, the sessions moved beyond simply presenting new products. Through a programme of talks and discussions, speakers explored the wider questions surrounding contemporary design — from materials, craftsmanship and sustainability to interiors, creativity and the way we live with design.

The relaxed format was deliberately different from a conventional conference setting. It created space for conversation and exchange between speakers, industry professionals and the wider design community, complementing the exhibitions and installations taking place throughout Shoreditch.

For LOFTME, becoming the official Furniture Partner for the Speakeasy Sessions was a natural opportunity to support this exchange of ideas and to be part of a programme connecting established design heritage with contemporary creative thinking.

LOFTME and the Design Community

LOFTME's involvement in Shoreditch Design Week reflects a part of our work that extends beyond sourcing and restoring individual pieces of furniture.

We regularly work with interior designers, architects, hospitality projects and creative teams, sourcing original twentieth-century furniture for spaces where provenance, character and individuality matter.

Events such as Shoreditch Design Week bring together different generations of design. Contemporary architecture, new materials and emerging ideas sit alongside objects created decades earlier — demonstrating that good design does not lose its relevance simply because of age.

For LOFTME, the partnership offered an opportunity to contribute to that conversation while meeting the designers, architects and creative professionals who continue to find new contexts for original vintage furniture.
