Danish Three-Seater High Back Sofa by Georg Thams, 1960s
A beautifully crafted Danish three-seater sofa by Thams, manufactured by A/S Vejen Polstermøbelfabrik, retaining its original maker’s label.
The sculptural solid wood frame is particularly impressive, with sweeping armrests, elegantly shaped supports and an exposed slatted back that gives the sofa just as much presence from behind as from the front.
Generously proportioned cushions in warm mustard upholstery create a striking contrast with the rich timber frame. Deep, softly buttoned back cushions and a gently reclined seating position make it exceptionally comfortable.
A substantial and highly decorative example of 1960s Danish modern design, combining beautiful joinery with relaxed lounge comfort.
