Jiri Jiroutek U-453 Sideboard for Interier Praha, 1960s – Black & White
Online exclusive - Delivery in 5-7 Weeks.
A striking mid-century U-453 sideboard designed by Jiří Jiroutek for Interier Praha, dating from the 1960s.
One of Jiroutek’s most recognisable storage designs, the U-453 combines a warm wooden cabinet with a highly graphic arrangement of black and white drawer fronts. The alternating colours create a bold geometric composition while retaining the clean, functional character associated with post-war Czechoslovak modernism.
The sideboard features eight spacious drawers, arranged in two columns, with practical moulded interiors. The cabinet is raised on elegant splayed wooden legs, giving the substantial piece a lighter architectural appearance. Rounded edges and the rich grain of the timber soften the strong monochrome façade.
A particularly versatile piece, it works beautifully as a sideboard, chest of drawers or statement storage cabinet in both mid-century and contemporary interiors.
