Model 107 Chair by Hans Olsen for Bramin, 1960
A striking example of sculptural Danish design, the Model 107 Chair by Hans Olsen for Bramin embodies the innovation and elegance of 1960s Scandinavian furniture. With its distinctive curved backrest and arm supports, this chair is as much a piece of art as it is functional seating.
Design & Craftsmanship
Crafted in solid wood, the chair features sweeping, organic forms, especially evident in the curved backrest with integrated “wing” arm details — a signature of Olsen’s work. The frame shows beautiful grain and has been lightly refreshed while retaining its vintage charm. The seat and inner back are upholstered in a striped fabric, echoing mid-century textile patterns. This piece works beautifully as an occasional chair, dining chair, or a collector’s design statement.

Hans Olsen (1919–1992) was a Danish architect and furniture designer known for his playful, unconventional take on mid-century modern design. A student of Kaare Klint at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Olsen diverged from traditional functionalism, often blending ergonomic experimentation with sculptural flair. His designs, though less mainstream, are now celebrated for their distinctive personality and innovation.
Bramin (formerly known as N.A. Jørgensen Møbelfabrik) was one of Denmark’s most respected furniture manufacturers throughout the 1950s–70s. Based in Bramming, they worked with prominent designers such as Hans Olsen and H.W. Klein. Known for their fine craftsmanship and attention to detail, Bramin pieces exemplify the golden era of Danish modernism.
