Arne Norell (1917–1971) was a celebrated Swedish designer known for his comfortable, elegant furniture that blended Scandinavian minimalism with international influences. Although he founded his own company, Norell Möbel AB, his designs gained popularity beyond Sweden and were licensed for production in other countries.
One notable collaboration was with Coja Culemborg, a Dutch furniture manufacturer based in the Netherlands. During the 1960s and 1970s, Coja produced several of Norell's iconic designs, including the Model 925 armchairs, under license. These pieces maintained Norell’s original design ethos — robust wooden frames, soft leather upholstery, and a relaxed yet refined aesthetic — while introducing his vision to a broader European market.
