Peter Hvidt & Orla - France & Son Model FD130 Sofa, Denmark 1960
An elegant and highly recognisable Danish modern sofa designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen and produced by the renowned manufacturer France & Son in the 1960s. The model FD130 perfectly represents the duo’s philosophy — light construction, visible structure, and absolute comfort.
The frame is crafted from solid teak and designed to appear almost architectural: slim, floating armrests, rounded joints and the distinctive sled-style base give the sofa a visually light silhouette while remaining extremely strong. Loose cushions provide a deep and relaxed seating position, typical of the best Scandinavian lounge furniture.
The sofa has been fully restored in our workshop. The teak frame has been carefully cleaned and reoiled to revive the natural warmth of the timber, while the cushions have been newly upholstered in high-quality velvet, preserving the authentic mid-century look and comfort.
